Professional Development

Little Leprechaun teachers understand the importance of their continued growth and development as professionals who will be infuencing the lives of young children. We provide our teachers with ways in which they can obtain more information about child development, curriculum ideas, and approaches to fostering the constructive activity of the children.

  • We provide new teachers with an experienced staff member as a mentor who will guide the new teacher through a specified inductin period.
  • We provide regular evaluations that offer constructive feedback and suggestions for continued development.
  • We require teachers to submit yearly professional development plans in which they describe the efforts they will make during th year to further their knowledge of child development, curriculum design, and teaching approaches.
  • We provide regular on‐site, in‐service workshops on topics of interest to the teachers.
  • We maintain a professional library with materials that teachers can use to develop their skills and competencies.
  • We create an in‐house newsletter for staff that shares interesting articles, book reviews, activity suggestions, and information about professional development opportunities.
  • Where feasible, we offer reimbursement for development activities such as workshop attendance and fees for professional organizations such as he National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
